The Cicada Complex is an interdisciplinary performance company that experiments with text, poetry, movement, and dance to create evocative and socially relevant performance art. Our mission is to push the boundaries of traditional performance and explore new forms of artistic expression. We believe that performance can be a powerful tool for social change and are committed to creating work that engages with the world around us.
Our Story
Andrea, Kelly, and Don have collaborated on multiple performance projects for several years through Cooperative Performance in Milwaukee, WI. After the company closed its doors in 2022, they decided to keep creating together whenever possible which ultimately inspired them to create their own company, The Cicada Complex. These three artists bring a mix of talents and skills together to create a unique blend of performance art focused on movement-based, philosophical, and poetic explorations of the human condition.
